Is "American" a good brand of water heater?

Our 8 year old gas 40 gallon water heater has not been reliably providing enough hot water lately and the repairman has been out a few times and is mystified. He offered to give us a brand new "American" 40 gallon water hater for 0 installed. Are these good water heaters?

A lot of people at work love their tankless water heaters, but I understand that I’d have to spend hundreds of bucks just to upgrade the gas lines to accomodate one of these.

Tank or tankless? American or another brand?

Can’t afford gas bill.

Tankless water heater costs?

anybody out there purchase a tankless water heater?…did the same contractor that installed the water heater also supply a new power source or gas line?…or did you have to get that done first? What was your total costs for a 2 shower system?
Thank you

I want to buy a tankless hot water heater to service the entire house (let’s say 4 GPM range or up). I’m looking for a recommendation where/what to buy. I prefer electric but could do natural gas/electric. I would also like someone else to install it and remove the old water heater.

If you have links to any other material that might help I would appreciate that as well.

Thanks

TankLess Water Heater

i bought a house and asume a lease on tankless water heater at 55 dollars (Toronto, ON, Canada). is it to high for a tankless water heater.

in summer, i only used 30 Cubic Feet of Natural Gas, which means the water heater is good or should i get it checked..

my other question is my house is only 1000 sq feet and since it is new house windows are good and there is no issue of leaks for escaping heat.

my question is how much i should i expect in natural gas consumption from months when it will be -10 to -20 in months from DEC to Mar

hope to hear from you

thanks

tankless water heater…?

I have electric and not gas for my water heating. Can I have a tankless water heater installed so I can save on water and have hot water on demand? Approx. cost to have this installed? My house is 2600 sq ft (2 story).
Thanks
Since it takes approx 3-4min for the water to get hot, I would think it will save money on water too.

I hear that new tankless do not require power, but lets assume i’ll need power.

I am looking at buying a gas Thermar Tankless Whole House Water Heater with 125,000 BTU/hr. Approx 140 degrees F. It would probably be installed in my basement, to heat water on two above levels. The kitchen and half bath are on the 1st floor. There are 2 bathrooms and a laundry room on the top floor. Does anybody know about this brand? Is there something else that I should consider? Should it be installed by an electrician, or by a plumber? Should it not be installed in the basement? Will I have to make adjustments to my gas line? Any clear, concise info you can offer would be so appreciated.

Would like to know which costs consumers" less to operate " a natural gas tankless water heater or an electric tankless water heater ? which is more efficient to save money?

thank-you

I need some professional help to change it to gas tank less water heater, but i don’t know who exactly are they? Lowe’s and home depot don’t have the people, also i live in small town. I appreciate your response, thanks.

I bought a tankless hot water heater less than 3 years ago and it has stopped working. I sent it back to the company who claims that they fixed it. It worked for less than two weeks, then stopped working again. After going round and round with the company, they said it must be something in my house that is causing it to stop working. It is a gas tankless hot water heater with an electric ignition. Does anyone know what in my house could cause it to stop working? Of course she wouldn’t answer that question for me. Also, what is the average lifespan of a tankless hot water heater. I have heard twice as long as a traditional tank water heater.

One of the most common problems with a gas water heater is the pilot light going out, as this can result in only cold water coming through. We need a new water heater and are very torn between a tank, a tankless gas, and a tankless electric. We’re leaning towards the electric. Any advice?

Should I get a tankless water heater?

What are the pros and cons of tank vs. tankless? I have a gas line in place.

im in the market for a new heater. i have elctric now, but originally it was run by solar. now the solar ran out and it runs on electri(this is what my brother told me) so i need a new one. i can get permits to have gas put in( run a line to the house) but its a pain in the neck to go through all that. so what do you think of the tankless water heaters? do you save money?

runs normally but when I try to add some cold water the hot water stops running and I have to switch it off and then switch it on again. The heater is new, and we put it outside in the laundry laundry area so there’s plenty ventilation. Thank you

Can anyone tell me what I should expect to pay to have a tankless water heater installed?

I had a plumber out today and asked him and he gave me a verbal quote of 00-00 which I thought was rediculusly high. I’ve estimated on my own the cost of the heater needed is pretty low, between 0 and 0 so based on the quote I was given they’re talking 30-40 hours of labor to install?

Basically, all that needs to be done from what he said is a new larger gas line run to where the water heater is which would be about 10 feet and then new vent ducting to the roof which is about 30 feet. And if I go with the bosch 1600H there’s no need for electricity since the water flow provides the power for the ignition.

Thanks.

Hi, I live in a condo and my current water heater is 5 gallons or smaller. It runs out of hot water within 3 mins of a shower. The water heater is located in the house in a storage closet. The space i have available for a new water heater is Approximately 28"wide X 40"Tall.

I am debating getting a Tankless water heater, to save space and have an endless supply of hot water. Can anyone give me some advise on this? Or should i just try to fit like a 20-30 gallon electric water heater. No Gas outlet, all electric.

Can you put a tankless heater in a closet like that?
Will it overheat?
Are there laws against this?

Thanks!

tankless water heater question?

I currently have a standard natural gas 40 gallon water heater that I would like to switch over to a tankless system – I currently have a weil mcclain boiler for my hot water heat, but wondered if I could just switch out the current hot water heater with a tankless. Or is there more involved…? Will the boiler just call for hot water from the new tankless heater, or is there a change in plumbing that needs to be done??

When just one average Florida household switches a non-gas water heater to a natural gas tankless water heater, it reduces the household carbon footprint by approximately 3000 pounds every year. That’s about the size of an average rhinoceros.

Hot water heater – tankless or solar?

I need a new gas hot water heater & trying to decide on whether to get a tankless or solar hot water heater. Can’t anyone give me some advice on which is better or a site that could compare the two?
I do understand that solar runs on the sun & requires no electricity but, seriously, is one better than the other? Pro’s & cons is what I’m looking for. I had a conventional 50 gal. gas water heater prior to it flooding my garage out.
Currently there are 2 in the household but desire a system capable for 4-6 people.
I am in Az. so the sun shines pretty much all the time during the day.

Gas supply for tankless hot water?

How can I tell if I have enough natural gas available to run a tankless hot water heater. I already have two furnaces and a gas dryer. What would happen if my demand exceeds my supply?
