How much do you really save? I mean if your Gas bill is 50 bucks per month how much will it be if you replace your water heater with a tankless water heater?

I’ve heard you will save between 12 and 25% off your water heating.
Check out the article in the source.
First of all, it takes a long time before you’re actually "saving" money, since tankless water heaters are *expensive* to purchase and install.
That said, I would be surprised if you saved more than 5 dollars per month on a $50 bill.
The first answer was right. There are a lot of up-front costs w/ buying the heater and even more if you hire someone to install it for you.
So if you get an electric tankless heater, you’ll start seeing the savings right away. And in most places, it costs less (joule per joule) to heat something with electricity than it does burning natural gas. It’s also more efficient to use electricity than losing the heat from burnt fossil fuels. You also don’t have to deal w/ carbon monoxide and venting issues w/ an electric heater than w/ a gas (or kerosine!! yuck!) heater.
If you’ve got a gas heater, then it next depends on your water usage. If you cycle through a lot of water, you’ll be brining in cold water to refill the tank (which requires heating). But if you use less, then the water will only need the top-off warming just to keep it ready. The pipes will always cool off because they’re not being heated.
So I can’t tell you more specifically unless I saw some #’s of its efficiency, your typical gas consumption, your hot water consumption, etc…
But in the long-run, you will start to save $$. Good luck!
I would stick with what I have.
